Macapili meets KIT trainers: updates of TESDA programs
Engr.Lorenzo G.Macapili Regional Director of TESDA IX, met the KIT family on January 23, 2017 at KIT Fitness Center. The meeting began at 6: 00 P M. The purpose of the meeting is to update KIT teaching and non-teaching personnel of TESDA programs pursuant to Republic Act N0. 7796 which empowers TESDA to establish and maintain a system of accrediting, coordinating , integrating , monitoring and evaluating formal and non-formal TVET programs.
The visit of RD Macapili to KIT was very interesting and inspiring. He gave a very clear explanation on Program Registration which he said that it the process by which TVET programs is registered with TESDA. It is the first stages of the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS).and registration process attest the capacity of Technical vocational Education and Training Institution (TVI) to deliver its stated curricula to learners against the minimum standards prescribed in the Training Regulations.
Likewise, He also added some important insights to be known by his people in the field in accordance on the general policies of TESDA which states that All TVET programs offered for a fee shall be registered as WTR or NTR under these guidelines before they are authorized to be offered to the public and the registration of TVET the programs under WTR category shall conform to the levels , descriptors of the Philippine Qualifications Framework(PQF)and TVI’s shall have the option to bundle qualifications into multi-qualification programs to produce multi-skilled workers.
Moreover, Macapili emphasised Rep.Act 7796 where in TESDA is mandated to provide technical education and skills development, to develop Filipino middle-level manpower and responsive to Philippine development goals. In closing he talked about Philippne TVET Situationer and the declaration of policy wherein the state shall encourage active participation of various concerned sectors, particularly private enterprises being direct participants in and immediate beneficiaries of a trained and skilled workforce, in providing technical education and skills development opportunities.
On the other hand, the KIT Faculty and Staff led by the OIC-Vocational School Administrator III Greta D.Saboroso Ed.D wereopportune to express their greetings to Engr.Lorenzo G. Macapili for his Appointment as the Regional Director of TESDA IX.
